Queensview (housing development) Queens, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Queensview is a cooperative residential housing complex comprised of 14 buildings and 726 cooperative apartments. It is centrally located in the thriving Astoria/Long Island City neighborhood of Queens and offers the best of its culture.

Queensview founded in 1950 and has a vibrant past as a supportive neighborhood in New York City. It occupies more than 10 acres of land, mature trees, and walking trails. Residents often describe the Queensview lifestyle as living within an oasis.

The Queensview complex was built under the Redevelopment Companies Act because it alleged that a private capital investment could be made for the reconstruction of Queens’ urban areas. This law was authorized in 1942. On November 14 in 1950, it was officially inaugurated as a housing cooperative for mainly middle-income people.

For the increase in the appraised value of the land proposed for the project, the redevelopment company was granted a 25-year tax reduction as redevelopment improved. The tax reduction expired in 1975 and since then all taxes on land and buildings have been paid.

In 1989, Queensview ceased to be a redevelopment company and became a private cooperative. In 2019, a collective decision was made to change from a limited share sales model to a market-rate sales model. Due Queensview is a limited capital company, share prices, buying and selling apartments are kept low.

Queensview is a member of the Coordinating Council of Cooperatives and is supervised by an elected Board of Directors composed of nine members, who are elected by the shareholders at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
